My inspiration for this box comes from the work of Matt Kenney. Constructed from Cherry I also used Maple for both the handle and the insert of the box, finishing it with a coat of amber shellac.
Slant Top Desk
I built this desk from Cherry with Maple as a secondary wood and the hardware came from Horton brass, the finish is a french polish. The base of the desk is assembled with mortise and tenon joinery. The upper case assembly of the desk is all dovetails with just a couple of exceptions, the lopers, the dividers for the gallery and the breadboard ends of the lid /writing surface.
The Blanket Chest
This blanket chest was a Christmas gift to my Mother and Father. Constructed of solid pine and assembled with mortise and tenon joinery, it has a removable tray with hand cut dovetails, a bead molding accent at each panel of the chest, breadboard ends, arched footings and brass hardware. The chest was finished using General finishes arm r seal.
