Clamping Miter Joints

While working on my latest project there have been a few moments when in the middle of doing something I realized how often I have been asked about exactly what I am doing right now, and always meaning to address these questions in better detail then with my typical response of a quick typed answer I never seem to be able to. So moving forward as I work through future projects I will try to cover these sort of questions, now I'm not sure if you would call these tips or tricks but some of this stuff will be common knowledge to some but hopefully it helps someone. Either way helpful or not I'll do my best to share it here as the answers to your questions present themselves.

So starting this off a common question I have received lately is how do I clamp miter joints. My go to usually is tape, a roll of the blue. With the faces of the pieces facing upward on my bench I will bring the mitered edges together then apply tape across the joint, making sure the two joints are tight to each other.  It's a really good idea to use some sort of a straight edge to help ensure your pieces are square to each other, in this image I used a piece of stock that I knew was square.

Then turning my piece over I will apply glue to the joint area and close the joint, now holding the joint closed tightly I will use another piece of tape to hold the joint closed until the glue dries.  Once the glue dries remove the tape and you should be set.
This a really easy way to approach clamping mitered corners in most situations like box making, picture frames and so on, feel free to give it a try and I hope this helps.
